Cooling lines for Data Centres and Load Banks

Liquid cooling the cloud? With MannTek’s couplings, it is both safe and spill-free – and of course, they fit with modern coolants and fluids such as glycol.

As the digital landscape evolves, artificial intelligence, high-performance computing (HPC) and GPU-dense workloads, are pushing server densities to new levels. Data centres are facing exceptional thermal challenges, with rack power densities now exceeding 80 kW and heat loads driven by AI accelerators and GPUs.

Safeguarding Critical Infrastructure

As traditional air-cooling methods reach their physical limits, liquid cooling has emerged as a critical technology for maintaining performance and uptime. However, superior heat transfer is entirely dependent on selecting the correct coupling. By integrating advanced, non-leakage couplings, the integrity of the entire fluid circuit is secured, ensuring that critical infrastructure remains protected 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Optimising Load Bank Testing

Liquid-cooled load banks are essential for generator and UPS testing, data centre commissioning, and validating CDU performance. In these applications, connection reliability is paramount. Conventional couplings introduce risks such as fluid leakage, air ingress, and extended setup times – challenges magnified when equipment is mobile or frequently reconfigured.

Proven expertise – Now Engineered for Data Centres

For decades, MannTek has been at the forefront of safe and spill-free fluid handling, specialising in Dry Disconnect Couplings for the most demanding industries – ranging from cryogenic LNG to aggressive chemicals. We have driven and set the standard STANAG 3756. And now, we are applying this world-leading expertise to the data centre sector.

Mitigating Operational Risks with Coupling Solutions

Implementing liquid cooling within data centres introduces operational risks. The deployment of liquid cooling equipment increases the probability of fluid spillage and handling errors, where even a minor leak can result in damage to critical infrastructure. Furthermore, conventional hose or flanged connections frequently necessitate complete system drainage prior to maintenance, introducing unwanted downtime.

To safeguard operational uptime, couplings must facilitate rapid, clean, and reliable connection and disconnection, even under the most demanding operational conditions. MannTek’s Dry Disconnect Coupling (DDC) is safe, spill-free, and easy to handle. When deploying liquid-cooled load banks, the integration of Dry Disconnect Couplings provides distinct operational advantages.

Key Operational Advantages

Our couplings are engineered to meet the unique challenges of IT environments:

  • Workspace Integrity: The complete elimination of fluid leaks within data halls and testing environments.
  • Dry Disconnect Technology: Ensures 100% spill-free disconnection, protecting sensitive electronics and preventing slip hazards in the facility.
  • Safety Breakaway Functionality: Acts as the safe, predetermined weak link in the hose line to minimise spillage, downtime and equipment damage in the event of an accidental pull-away.
  • Market-Leading Performance: Delivers high flow capacity with a significant reduction in coupling force.
  • Material Compatibility: Available in high-grade stainless steel and specialised alloys to ensure total compatibility with modern coolants and fluids, including glycol.
  • Ergonomic Handling: Engineered for balanced and effective operation, significantly reducing installation and maintenance time.
  • Optimised Thermal Management: Prevents air ingress into glycol-based cooling systems, thereby maintaining consistent thermal performance.
  • Optional Smart Features: Configurable with sensors, locking devices, and 'stop-before-disconnection' mechanisms.

Choose a Safe and Reliable Solution
