Safety Breakaway Couplings
Safety Breakaway Couplings are used to prevent pull away accidents, protect terminal and loading/unloading equipment and eliminated unwanted product release. The breakaway couplings have a predefined breaking point which will break at a determined break-load where upon the internal valves will automatically close flow on both sides.
Safety Breakaway Couplings (Emergency Release Couplings) with integrated shut-off valves are used to avoid spillage and damage associated with drive and/or pull away incidents when loading and unloading. The couplings are designed to be the weakest link of the hose line or loading arm.
This will in a longer time frame minimize down time, save the environment, equipment and the investment.
Safety Breakaway Couplings are suitable for a wide range of products including petroleum-based products, chemicals, gases and foodstuffs.
Available in breaking pin version (marine type and industrial type) and cable release version.

Marine type
Marine Breakaway will not release in any angular pull, only at straight pull.
Marine Breakaways should always be installed between two strings of hose.
Industrial type
Industrial Breakaway will release in any angle from 0-90 degrees.
Industrial Breakaways should always be installed to minimum one fixed point.
In service
The coupling consists of two halves, each with a valve.
Released
After an emergency disconnection the coupling separates and both valves close immediately.
