Cryogenic Breakaway Couplings
Cryogenic breakaway couplings are used to avoid spillage and damage associated with drive and/or pull away incidents when loading and unloading. The CBC couplings are designed to be the weakest link of the hose line or loading arm. The Cryogenic breakaway couplings are suitable for cryogenic liquefied gases, such as LNG, nitrogen, oxygen, argon, ethylene, down to -196° C.
Available in breaking pin version (marine and industrial type) and cable release version.
Size from: | 1”-8” for breaking pin, 2”-6” for cable release. |
Material: | Stainless Steel. |
Seals: | PTFE seals. |
Working pressure | 25 bars. |
Poppet design – avoid damaged valves seat or over rotating flip.
Industrial Breakaway will release in any angle from 0-90 degrees.
Industrial Breakaways should always be installed to minimum one fixed point.
In service
The coupling consists of two halves, each with a valve.
Released
After an emergency disconnection the coupling separates and both valves close immediately.

Benefits
Available in multiple versions
Available in both an industrial version, with any breaking angle - and a marine version with straight pull only.
Variation of breaking load
Variation of breaking load - will be calculated for each installation.
Line protected
Protects line from excess pressure.
Connections
Choose inlet and outlet connections individually - any combination of connection available. After activation, the unit can be reset in minutes without special tools. Reliable poppet valve design. No nipples or reducers necessary - produced with a wide range of flanges and threads. Available with integrated hose shank.
Independent breaking force
Breaking force independent from line pressure and lateral force.
Ice breaking function
Unique ice breaking function.
PTFE seals
Engineered and specially designed PTFE seals.
Side load
Withstands extreme sideload. Low breaking force.
