MannTek LNG Transfer System delivered to the Tornio Manga LNG Terminal

Friday, 8 September, 2017

MannTek has delivered another LNG Transfer System, this time to Wärtsilä and the Tornio Manga LNG Terminal. Wärtsilä is a recognised leader in gas engine technology and has, just like Skangas did at the Pori terminal, chosen MannTek LNG Transfer Systems for bunkering and delivering LNG.

A Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) has been successfully completed. The system consists of Manntek’s DCC (Dry Cryogenic Couplings), CBC (Cryogenic break-away Couplings), LNG bunkering hoses, an ESD (Emergency Shut Down which provides an ESD signal to ship or shore ESD system) and HPN2 (High Pressure Nitrogen System).

MannTek LNG Transfer Systems are lighter, by up to 50%, than any other LNG transfer system available today. This weight-saving is vital to owners and operators of the system as it makes it easier and safer for operators who have to manually lift the connections. MannTek’s CEO Markus Bäckström said: “The lighter design makes for a more maneuverable design which in turn makes the role of the system’s operators easier, and more importantly, safer.”

The Tornio Manga LNG Terminal is scheduled to be operational in the beginning of 2018 and will provide LNG for a new generation of LNG powered ships. It will be the largest imprt terminal for LNG in the entire Nordic region.
